An Invitation

When you walk through the door you should expect to be surprised. Don’t worry, it’ll be something you like. Or something that will be good for you.

When I first came through I was met by all my friends, my true friends, as it turned out. I was surprised by who was there and who was not; some people I had thought were my friends were not there. And some people that I barely knew turned out to be the ones that helped me the most.

Your experience may be different, will almost assuredly be different. Pay attention to what you hear and see. Be alert! But don’t be fearful. Relax as much as you can; don’t worry about trying to take it all in, you have the rest of your life for that. Just let it happen, keep open. It is all directed towards you, whatever is important will make itself known, it will be clear. So you don’t have to go looking for it.

When you first step through some things will be familiar. Some will not but they are there for a reason. They may be there just to help you feel comfortable with the experience.

Expect to be surprised by what is familiar to you. You may have never thought about how much you know about things that seemed to be such a small part of your life, that you wouldn’t have thought of as being interesting. But there they will be, demonstrating just how much a part of your life they are.

If someone approaches you welcome them. They are here to help you, they have your best interests in mind. And again, don’t be fearful. No one will force you, you will decide what is of value for you here. You will decide what to do. You will decide what action to take, either right then or afterward, or not at all.

It may seem dark to you or it may seem bright, I don’t know which. That is different for each person. I think that depends on how ready you are for what may happen. Some people have said that what is of value will appear firmly out of a mist. Others have said they are surrounded by many things that they see clearly, which seemed to show them that they were already on a good path.

If someone offers you something you don’t have to take it. You may if you wish but don’t feel compelled to. It may be that you are being offered an option. You don’t have to decide immediately, whatever they offer will always be available.

Nothing here is a trap. But what you are offered may surprise you, it may make you rethink what has been valuable or useless in your life up to this point. You will see it and eventually, right away or some time in your future, you will recognize its significance.

So when you leave here you will have been cleansed, or you will have begun to cleanse. When you arrive home you may find that there are things you possess that you no longer need. You may wish to get rid of some things, but remember, please, be kind in how you shed your skin. Others may still be attached to that part of you. You can assure them that you are still the same person, that they are still important to you. But that you are doing things in a different way now. And that some parts of you, that you have been clinging to, are no longer necessary or helpful. But tell them that this is not a “goodbye,” that it is just a new approach. That you are approaching your life in a new way, or in a less cumbersome way, and that they are always welcome in it.

I wonder what you will find. I wonder what you will see. I wonder what will be lifted away from you.
