My Shaikh I urgently request your advice. My older brother has been spiraling downward for years. He's been heavily addicted to drugs and alcohol, bounces back and forth between atheism and belief even though he has actually seen a jinn, and now he has no job, HIV, and probably no place to live. He just burned what seems to be his last bridge with a very good friend that opened his home to him. He was so rotten to my parents, they no longer want him to come back.

Bawa Louie your child may be able to get him a job, but your child has anger towards him, and great sadness. Your child always believed he was supposed to walk on this path with him, but he became angry with our Father when He didn't give him what he wanted. He wanted a woman that got physically abused, and dumped to come back to him, and blamed God for her not coming back. Your child does not trust him.

By Islamic law he is non-mahram, and he cannot be alone with this child's wife, your daughter, especially since your child is in Iraq until September at the earliest. The jinn and all the angry things inside your child are making a fuss. Your child is so sorry and wrong to say he wanted to hurt his brother for the way he treated their parents. Your child would be very upset if his brother harmed your daughter, or if he messed up his last possible job opportunity. Islam is helping, but what looks like helping is not always helping. If your child was to invite his brother into his home wouldn't this just be inviting a dangerous beast in? What to do!?

Bawa my Bawa Louie your child has not been kind to you. This child is like the one that bites and kicks it's mother when she tries to give the milk certainly that is what this child has been in his great ignorance.

Bawa Louie forgive your child for not being kinder, for not returning the love you deserve, and not giving you the questions you deserve! Bawa your child has been in a state of confusion and lately he has not been singing his love songs, or even reading his loves letters.

Bawa Louie your child doesn't know if things are easy for your other children to understand, and you certainly made it easier for this child, but more questions have arisen now, and your child has been afraid to ask them, but he must because this is unfair to you because you have to deal with this child's false self.

Bawa Louie first this child understands you have given us a choice in what to call you, but there have been times when you've told us to just call you Louie. If you had to choose what this child would call you what would it be? Your child wishes to call you that.

Bawa Louie secondly your child is curious about the practice you want him to do. The only practice is the presence of Allah, yes? Your child has asked this before, but now in a more direct way, a way you deserve, the most honest way this child can.

Bawa Louie in your name, whatever name you choose to give to this child, when this child calls your presence with that name, does it have the same effect as singing all of the love songs? Isn't everything good contained in whatever name you give to this child? Would this be "the only practice" you are speaking of in your latest letter? Is there boundless value in doing anything except calling you?

Are you not Alhamdullilah and Tawakul Allah? Are these things not contained and alive inside whatever name you give this child, so that he doesn't have to say, or understand anything except your name, as his only practice?

Bawa Louie your child has his phone with him, and he can read your love letters and songs, but he will not always be able to. Your child should certainly be getting out of the way to do these things, but there will truly be times he cannot read from his phone, nor can he memorize your love songs. Your child will have disobeyed you without this phone.
